Building the Ultimate Home Bar
Today I’m going to show you how I built the ultimate home bar for a buddy of mine.
Since this is a big job, I got another friend in to help, and if you’re thinking of following along, you’ll probably find it helpful to do the same.
Let’s get to it.
Building the Ultimate Home Bar
How to Build the Ultimate Home Bar
Start With the Frame
We’re going to build our bar to be 6ft x 4ft, and to put that together we’re going to need to start with the frame.
Wrap the Frame in Plywood
With the L-Shaped frame done, we need to wrap it in half-inch plywood to beautify it up.
Put the Counter Top Together
I roped in my friend to help with building the countertop by cutting some 2x4s to size and fixing them together using solid wood glue.
When your countertop is done too, we can get to work on sanding the whole thing down.
Cut it to shape.
And connect the two pieces together using pocket holes and wood glue to create the L-shape we need for our bar.
With that done, we can give our top a nice wood stain.
Add Trim Pieces
After connecting the countertop to the base, we can trim some plywood pieces to size.
Sand them.
And add them to both the bar itself.
As well as the back wall to create a “barn” style aesthetic.
Don’t forget to stain both when done.
Build the Drop Ceiling
Finally, we can build and stain the drop ceiling and then it’s time to put the whole thing together.
Keeping in mind how big this thing is, you’ll probably find it a good idea to get a friend involved to help.
Add the Finishing Touches
With everything set up, all that’s left to do is to add the finishing touches such as LED lights.
A TV.
And electrical fittings.
And with that, we’ve built ourselves the ultimate home bar setup.
