Plumbing On Concrete + JACK HAMMER IN KITCHEN || Concrete Slab House Reno

After tearing out the kitchen in the last episode, this time it's time to tackle the kitchen plumbing.

Here's what we did:

Kitchen Plumbing Step-by-Step

Creating a Channel

Our first task is to create the channel that runs between the two sections I’m showing you in the picture below.

Since we’ve got heated flooring, this gets a little trickier, so the first task is to use a thermal sensor to identify a cold spot where it’s safe to work.

We can then mark out this safe spot and first use a concrete saw to cut...

Before putting a jackhammer to work on digging.

Running the Conduit

With the channel dug out, we use a metal conduit and push it into place.

We then went with quick-drying concrete cement to secure it into place.

Moving the Plumbing to the Sink

We're putting our sink in the kitchen island, so the next task is to move everything into place.

The best way to do that is to drop the main section with the plumbing down, create a pony wall box and run the plumbing through there.

Adding Drainage Ventilation

To ensure our drains are properly ventilated we’re going to use an AAV valve that allows air into the system without allowing gasses to escape.

Adding the Water Lines

With the ventilation in place, it’s time to add the water lines which are running through our half-inch pex tubing.

It’s very important to make sure the water supply is turned off before we do this and have a bucket handy as some water is likely to still spill.

Add the Supply Line for the Faucet

The last part of the plumbing is to add the supply line for the faucet.

This is best achieved by using these copper pex adapters running through a bracket before adding the pex in place.

Adding a Pot Filler Valve

We want to add a pot filler above the stovetop for filling pots and pans when cooking.

The best way to do this is to drill through this stud wall here:

Then we can run the waterline along it and connect it into place.

We can then add the valve and temporarily seal it up while we’re not using it.
